Swedish Customs (Tullverket) manages imports using EU Common Customs Tariff and TDS (Tulldatasystemet) electronic system. EU goods move freely. Non-EU imports require customs declaration via Tullverket online portal. Simplified AEO procedures available. PostNord handles postal customs. IOSS for VAT from €0 since July 2021.
Very efficient Scandinavian customs. PostNord parcels clear within 1-2 days. Express couriers same-day. IOSS simplifies e-commerce VAT collection. IMPORTANT: Sweden adds a chemical tax (kemikalieskatt) on electronics that surprises many importers, applies to TVs, monitors, laptops, phones and can add significant cost.
Where to obtain documents
Certificate of origin: Issued by Swedish Chamber of Commerce (Handelskamrarna). EUR.1 movement certificate for EU FTA partners. REX self-certification for GSP countries. Sweden processes high volumes of certificates due to strong export economy. Import licenses: EU-wide licensing rules. Jordbruksverket (Swedish Board of Agriculture) for food/animal imports. Lakemedelsverket (Medical Products Agency) for pharmaceuticals. IMPORTANT: Sweden levies a chemical tax (kemikalieskatt) of SEK 164/kg on certain electronics containing hazardous substances.
Limited direct trade data between TT and SE. Most shipping routes go via major logistics hubs in Europe, UAE, or Singapore.

Swedish customs are efficient with electronic clearance systems. Budbee and Instabox offer convenient parcel locker options.
