General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) uses VNACCS/VCIS electronic customs system. Traffic light system: green (auto-release), yellow (document check), red (physical inspection). Many FTAs including CPTPP, EVFTA, RCEP.

Import licenses: Automatic import licenses for most goods. Special permits for pharmaceuticals (Drug Administration of Vietnam), food (Ministry of Health), telecom equipment (Ministry of Information). Quality inspection for many consumer goods.
Limited direct trade data between ID and VN. Most shipping routes go via major logistics hubs in Europe, UAE, or Singapore.
Key imports into VN: Electronics, machinery, petroleum, textiles (for processing), chemicals, steel, plastics. Key exports from ID: Palm oil, coal, natural gas, rubber, textiles, electronics, coffee, cocoa, tin, nickel. Vietnam charges 10% VAT on imports. Customs duties range from 0-50% depending on the product. Vietnam Post (VNPOST) handles postal deliveries. Viettel Post and Giao Hang Nhanh are popular domestic carriers. Vietnam has many FTAs providing preferential tariff access for imports from partner countries.
Based on shipper reports, delivery from ID to VN takes 7-21 days depending on the service. Express couriers (DHL, FedEx, UPS) offer faster delivery in 3-7 days. Accurate customs declarations are recommended to speed up the process.

ID and VN are both members of the following trade agreements: RCEP, ASEAN FTA, China-ASEAN FTA, WTO. These agreements may provide reduced or zero customs duties on qualifying goods. Be sure to obtain a certificate of origin to take advantage of preferential tariff rates.
VAT/GST rate: 10%. Applies to: CIF value + duty + special consumption tax (if applicable). Reduced 5% for essential goods. Special consumption tax on luxury goods, alcohol, tobacco.
